An important tool to help a player reach his goal of opening or closing is the Structure of Power. Upon the night of the 31st, it is primarily the combined effectiveness of one side’s structures compared to the other that will determine the outcome.

Gathering the Ingredients

At the beginning of the game, the player’s will be given a list of ingredient they will used to build their Structure. No two lists will be identical. During the course of October, a player’s primary activity will be gathering items for his structure of power. These will be role-played out with the Administrator to

Timing

The majority of the items can be collected at any time. Some, however, require a specific time to be acquired.

How am I supposed to get that?

Some items on your list may seem impossible to acquire, an intangible or and idea. There is no right way to get these items. Role-play out with the Admin your solution, be it symbolic, magical, or otherwise. No one way will be more potent then any other.

Potency

The Admin determines an item’s potency at the time it is collected. An item casually acquired will be less potent then one gathered with forethought and skill. There is no hard and fast rule for this.

That said, not every item should be an epic undertaking, as there are plenty of other things that will occupy your time before the 31st.

Items of Power

In addition to the Structures of Power, there are also several specific items that grant a bonus to the player who possesses them. These include the wand of Opening, the wand of Closing and other iconic items.

Ingredient Lists

Below is an example of the list of items you will need to assemble a structure of power. It is not necessary to collect all of the items on the list. However, the potency of the structure will depend on the number and quality of the items. Not everyone's list will be identical, although there will be some overlap.

  • The wings of a bat
  • The fur of a wild animal, taken without harming it
  • The ashes of a burned human liver
  • An eyeball from a blind man
  • A source of power
  • The laughter of a friend
  • A blunt object, once used to commit murder
  • A human patella, exhumed during the Death of the Moon
  • A sturdy brass lock
  • The wing of a dragon
  • The glasses of a scribe
  • The shadow of a squirrel
  • The dream of a child
