Residences

The place where a Player is staying during the month of October is referred to as his residence. A residence can be a mansion, a room in an inn, a cave in the side of a hill, or any place that a Player calls home during the Game. It is suggested that Players have only one residence each, although they can have up to three. All Players must have a residence located on the map. Players are welcome to have residences elsewhere, off the map, but the have no bearing on the Game.
Additionally, a residence declared to the Administrator will have no bearing in the Game unless it is actually used as such for at least two consecutive days before the 17th.

For example: Marty tells the Administrator that as well as his posh up-town mansion, he owns two tenements downtown that he also considers his residences. To the Admin. these will have no bearing on the game unless Marty spends at least two consecutive days in each.

Residences are very important in Lonesome October, as they determine the location of the Gateway. After the Death of the Moon (the night of the 17th), the Administrator maps out the location of all Players residences. Then he determines the location of the Gate by placing it in the center of all residences.
The residences of Non-Players who become Players before, or on, the 17th are considered in the Gateway’s location, residences of Non-Players who become Players after the 17th are not.
After the location of the Gate is determined by the Admin. it cannot be changed. Changes in residences and statuses of Players will not change it.

For example: Marty's mansion burns to the ground, forcing him to move into one of his tenements. Because it happened on the 20th, his change of residence does not change the location of the gate (calculated using his mansion).
